ACN vs Bluetooth
Simple: Because data transmission over Bluetooth has a great latency penalty, rendering it not suitable for the accuracy we want to achieve with the Lockit system.
Lockits communicate with each other via the ACN network, which is superior to Bluetooth in terms of latency and range. In case you haven't read it yet, you can find more information on the ACN here.

Bluetooth is still useful
We use Bluetooth as remote interface for the LockitRemote app for iOS or Android. You can set the time and adjust settings on all your devices via the app.Â
But the actual timecode synchronisation happens between the individual Lockits and not on the phone. In order to achieve this, the LockitBT acts as a bridge between the ACN and Bluetooth.
That way we can combine the benefits of Bluetooth connectivity with the accuracy of our own ACN network and offer a workflow that is super-convenient and easy to use but still as professional and accurate as you would expect it from Ambient gear.
