In this guide we’ll show how to make a Tascam DR-10L Pro accept external LTC timecode.
Firmware version 2.00 or higher is required on your DR-10L Pro to enable this feature!
Turn on all your Lockit devices, choose one of them to be the Master Clock – then press-and-hold the green button to broadcast timecode and frame rate through ACN and you are set.
Make sure all devices and Lockits run on the same frame rate.
- On the Lockit, press green and red simultaneously to enter menu, then and navigate to “Project Rate”. For the NanoLockit, use the LockitToolbox to adjust the frame rate or jam it from another Lockit with the correct frame rate.
- On the Tascam recorder, no further settings are required for now. The frame rate will be adjusted during the timecode jamming process.
How to make the DR-10L Pro accept external Timecode:
- Press the menu button to access the menu.
- Navigate to "29: LTC SYNC". (You can press the down arrow once to skip directly from 01 to 29.)
- Press enter to active the LTC scan.
For this recorder you need a TC-IO-35RA timecode cable.

Connect the cable to the Microphone input connector located at the top side of the housing.
The recorder recognises the external LTC and will ask you to confirm the correct frame rate. This is especially important for 30 fps/29.9 fps and 24 fps/ 23.9 fps because the recorder can't distinguish between PAL and NTSC rates on its own!
Once the timecode has been jammed successfully, the recorder will display the running timecode in the home screen as well as a a small "t" in the right corner. You can safely unplug the LTC cable now.
