You need:
- The NanoLogger App for iPhone from the AppStore (free)
- A Frame.io account with Camera-to-Cloud (C2C) enabled
Good to know: The purpose of this app is to simulate the Frame.io live logging workflow with an Ambient NanoLockit. Using the physical NanoLockit box with haptic buttons will improve the logging experience a lot. To learn how this works click here.
Step 1:
Open the NanoLogger App and connect to your Frame.io Account
Step 2:
On the Frame.io Dashboard click the "Media" dropdown on left and navigate to "C2C Connections"
Step 3:
On the "C2C Connections" page click the three points and select "Add new device".
Step 4:
To pair your NanoLogger App with Frame.io click "Device ready to connect". You will be asked to enter a 6-digit pairing code. Typewrite the individual pairing code from the top of this screen. (In case the code has expired - which it does after 2 minutes - please start again). Then click "Authorize".
Step 5:
Set the correct frame rate. Make sure your NanoLogger App is set to the same frame rate (project rate) as your cameras on set.
Step 6:
Now you have to set the Timecode that you use on set in the NanoLogger App. You have various options here.
The easiest way is to use the “Scan a TC” function and film the running timecode on a display (e.g. Lockit box, camera display or monitor). The timecode is then automatically adopted.
Step 7:
Now connect a C2C-enabled camera (e.g. Panasonic LUMIX GH7) to your Frame.io Account.
Step 8:
Now you are ready to log. Press the green or the red button to log Timecode based markers that will appear in Frame.io
Tip:
To test if everything works fine record yourself tapping the buttons in the NanoLogger App. If the markers in Frame.io match your finger press you are ready to go.
Good to know:
By default Frame.io will display a green marker as "#good" and a red marker as "#bad".
If you want to change that navigate to the "C2C Connections" tab again, select your NanoLogger App, click the three buttons and select "Edit logging buttons" from the menu.
There you can enter an individual free text for each button and even set a fixed offset if required.
