In this guide we’ll show how to make an ARRI Alexa 35 accept external Timceode and Genlock.
Turn on all your Lockit devices, choose one of them to be the Master Clock – then press-and-hold the green button to broadcast timecode and framerate through ACN and you are set.
Make sure that all cameras and Lockit Devices run on the same frame rate:
- On the Lockit, press green and red simultaneously to enter menu, then and navigate to “Project Rate”
- Set up the Camera as follows:
- Enter Menu
- Go to “Recording”
- Go to “Project Settings”
- Adjust “Project Rate”
These settings make the camera accept external Timecode:
- Tap on the “TC” area on the display
- Go to “Options”
- As “Run Mode” select “Free Run”
- As “Mode” select “Regen”
For this camera you need an TC-IO Timecode cable.
Connect it to the LEMO Timecode Connector
Now the camera accepts the external Timecode source.
Genlock
If your setup requires Genlock, you can use the same setup. ARRI cameras can lock their sensor to an accurate Timecode Input via Lockits.
- Enter Menu
- Go to “System”
- Go to “Sensor”
- As “Genlock Sync” select “TC IN”
The camera is now synced (genlocked) to the ACN timecode.
